About

G Monnet

Gwendolyn Monnet was born in on Vancouver Island, British Columbia to a large family of Welsch and Metis heritage.

She is very happy to be back in the Comox Valley after having spent almost 20 years in Lausanne, Switzerland. While she misses the cobblestone, castles, vineyards, cheese and wine (and chocolate and friends....and the shoes!). Twenty years without eagles flying overhead and tides is a long time.

Gwen has managed to live her life doing what she loves the most...most of the time. Art, sports and children have always brought her great satisfaction and joy. She is currently working as a Specialized Education Assistant.

Her paintings for children spawned from characters she was developing for a childrens' book (still to come!). She likes to paint images that children can make up their own story to; images that spark the imagination.

Most of all she has a lot of fun creating them and loves to see the look on childrens' faces when they get their very own original painting.

She has commissioned paintings of childrens' favorite stuffies and toys and brought them to life; family pets are also a popular request.

All works are acrylic on canvas. The images flow around the edges so framing is not neccessary (as can be seen with some photos on site). This also makes a very light and safe wall hanging for a childs' room (and cheap to mail!).

While some of the original paintings are no longer available, quality prints and cards are. All sizes are in inches.

The paintings are sealed with a protective coating to ensure the longevity of the artwork and to ward off mucky fingers. Gwen sells her paintings as well as canvas bags and art cards privately and in galleries.
